Image Processing
LeanImg processes all images entirely within your browser using WebAssembly. Your images are never uploaded to any server. No image data is transmitted over the network, stored on our servers, or accessible to us in any way.
Data Collection
We collect a small amount of traffic data, and nothing beyond it. We never receive your images or anything of their content.
- Analytics: We use two measurement services, both from Vercel, the company that hosts the site, and neither of them sets a cookie. Vercel Analytics counts page views. What it reports back to us is aggregate: how many times a page was opened, the country a request came from, which browser was used, and anonymous tool-usage counts such as how many files were selected and their total size. Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly pages load and respond on real visits — timings only, never the content of the page or anything you drop into a tool. Neither can identify you. Google Analytics was removed from every page in August 2026.
- Advertising: LeanImg uses Google AdSense (Auto ads) on pages in the languages we index. Third-party vendors, including Google and its partners, use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites and to measure them. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland a Google-certified consent message asks for your choice before such cookies are set. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and learn about other vendors' opt-outs at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
Cookies
Two things can set cookies in your browser while you use this site: LeanImg itself, with the one cookie below, and Google's advertising script on pages that carry the AdSense loader. The tools work without any of them.
- NEXT_LOCALE: Set by LeanImg so the site keeps showing the language you are reading. It holds a two-letter language code and lasts only until you close your browser. It is written when you pick a language from the switcher, and also without any action from you when you open a page in a language other than the one your browser is already set to.
Google's advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, are described under Advertising above; in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are set only after you have made a choice in the consent message. You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Clearing NEXT_LOCALE only means the site forgets which language you were reading.
Local Storage
The image compressor keeps a running count of the images you have compressed, stored under the key leanimg_compressed_count so the page can show that number back to you. It is a single number that stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere. That key is the only thing this site writes to local storage, and you can clear it from your browser settings.
